Everyone has a story...

Hello beautiful peeps, so happy to be back to share my latest project. After a much needed break, if feels great to be creating again. Art is a great way to express ourselves, even if it's in the simplest of ways. Life isn't always as it seems and we all have our reasons for doing what we do. It's important to remind ourselves that everyone has their own story to tell...hence the inspiration behind this piece.

We may not always understand or agree with why certain things happen the way they do, but for me it's always important to try and read between the lines. Now, it doesn't mean I will always get it right, but regardless, it usually helps me put things into perspective, as I too have my own story to tell.

In time, I have accumulated many, many things that have yet to be put to use, including much of Tim Holtz's product line...some old, some new and some on the way...YIKES!!! In creating this project, that became my main focus, so I used the TH Etcetera thickboard, some background stamps, metal embellishments and distress inks and oxides, along with many other elements as well. All and all, happy with how it turned out!!!

Enjoy...

Have a wonderful day!!!

C'est Magnifique! ~ Victorian Decor

Hello creative friends, I'm happy to share my next DT project for Mixed Media Warriors ~ August Mood Board, this month's challenge is Vintage/Old School using pastels. Mood Board is posted below. I went with a Vintage/Shabby Chic - Victorian style design. This project originally started out as a card, but I later decided to add it to a 5x7 wooden plaque that will sit on a small easel.

These papers are from Graphic 45 "Gilded Lily" collection, I've had it for quite some time, it was nice to finally put them to use. I added many flowers and lace, the chipboard saying is gold embossed, I added a button with some twine, some gold  micro beads, pink fragments, baby blue glass beads, gold wax and lots of layering.

For more inspiration and to join the challenge, please stop by the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog.

Quick side note: If you haven't noticed, I tend to change from different styles and techniques when creating, for me it keeps it fun, interesting and challenging...it's a great way to keep my creative juices flowing as I get bored very easily.

Enjoy...

Art Inspired Tags

Hello there, here is my next DT project for Art Anthology. I made some colorful purple and yellow tags, using some black for contrast. These are colorful and simple to create using Art Anthology's Colorations spray, somewhat mixed in with Minx ink. For added texture I used some Stone Effects through the stencil and Sorbet medium on the chipboard. For a tad more texture, I also applied some purple and black glass glitter. Hope you feel inspired to create your own...below you will find a step by step tutorial.

Be sure to stop by the Art Anthology blog for more inspiration from the DT.

By The Sea - Lighthouse Frame

Hello creative friends, happy to share another DT project for Art Anthology. For today's project I made a mixed media, somewhat altered lighthouse frame. I decided not to add a photo yet (needing one that's just right), instead I removed the glass piece and replaced it with pattern paper and a wooden sentiment, I saved the glass piece for when I add the photo later.

I used a combination of Art Anthology Colorations color sprays, Velvet and Sorbet dimensional mediums and some Stone Effects. Please visit the Art Anthology blog for more creative and inspirational ideas...there you will also find links to Pinterest and YouTube. Also, you can join us on Facebook "Art Anthology Adventures In Art", where you can share your ideas and beautiful works of art. Hope to see you there!

Below you will find a step by step tutorial, along with a list of supplies.

Inspire the Arts - Altered Paintbrush

Hello creative gang, welcome back for another Art Anthology DT post. For today's project I created a "grungy rainbow" altered paintbrush. I used Art Anthology's Velvet dimensional paints and the Metal Effects - copper and gold. Love that these are very thick and dimensional, you can literally hold an open bottle upside down and nothing will come out...a little goes a very long way. When lightly applied they are somewhat transparent, which easily allows you to slowly build and control the amount of color needed, especially when using a variety of colors on a small project, like I did here.

I love learning new products as it is always a fun way for me to expand my mind and hopefully find new ways to be creative. For a tutorial, check out the YouTube video posted below and be sure to stop by Art Anthology's blog for more ideas and inspiration from the DT.

Live Life Tag Board

Hi everyone, here with a DT project for the Art Anthology Blog. For this project I used some of the Art Anthology dimensional paints... Metal Effects, Velvet's and Sorbet. These paints are quite different than most paints I've used, they are translucent yet dimensional, so the heavier the application, the more dimensional and opaque they become. The Velvet's have a beautiful matt smooth finish, the Sorbet's have high gloss and a tinge of glitter, I used the combination of both for the leaves.

As for the Metal Effects, I love using them over black gesso by applying the copper first and highlighting with the gold, which makes the copper look more like a rusty background...love this technique, will definitely be using it on another project. On this project I also used it on the face mold to give it an aged, distressed look, hard to see the end result in the video, but you can see it in the close up photo.

Hope you're feeling inspired, be sure to stop by the Art Anthology Blog for more inspiration!

Enjoy

Born to Rock - Tag

Hi everyone, here's a fun, quick and easy tag I made for my DT project for this month's challenge at Mixed Media Warriors. I tried to mix it up a bit with a much larger tag than I'm used to using, yet keeping it somewhat simple by only using some ink pads, a stencil and embossing powder. I thought to use it as the actual gift, by adding a little bracelet for the loop of the tag, along with a couple of concert tickets that will later be clipped to the back. The mood board not only gave me inspiration for color, but the inspiration for a gift as well.

Hope you're inspired to join us for this month's challenge at Mixed Media Warriors, we would love to see what you create.

Enjoy...

Measured Moments - Art Journal Page

Hi everyone, glad to be back with another DT project for Art Anthology. I've decided to create another page for my Vintage Art Journal. My inspiration started with the quote I used, but it was shortly followed by my love for all things vintage. I used a the "scales" stencil, several colorations sprays, a combination of metallic effects and sorbet paints by Art Anthology. Love how all of the colors blended so well together. Below you will find a step by step tutorial.

Please be sure to stop by the Art Anthology blog for more inspiration and tutorials from the design team.
