Art Inspired Tags

Hello there, here is my next DT project for Art Anthology. I made some colorful purple and yellow tags, using some black for contrast. These are colorful and simple to create using Art Anthology's Colorations spray, somewhat mixed in with Minx ink. For added texture I used some Stone Effects through the stencil and Sorbet medium on the chipboard. For a tad more texture, I also applied some purple and black glass glitter. Hope you feel inspired to create your own...below you will find a step by step tutorial.

Be sure to stop by the Art Anthology blog for more inspiration from the DT.

Enjoy...

By The Sea - Lighthouse Frame

Hello creative friends, happy to share another DT project for Art Anthology. For today's project I made a mixed media, somewhat altered lighthouse frame. I decided not to add a photo yet (needing one that's just right), instead I removed the glass piece and replaced it with pattern paper and a wooden sentiment, I saved the glass piece for when I add the photo later.

I used a combination of Art Anthology Colorations color sprays, Velvet and Sorbet dimensional mediums and some Stone Effects. Please visit the Art Anthology blog for more creative and inspirational ideas...there you will also find links to Pinterest and YouTube. Also, you can join us on Facebook "Art Anthology Adventures In Art", where you can share your ideas and beautiful works of art. Hope to see you there!

Below you will find a step by step tutorial, along with a list of supplies.

Enjoy...

Inspire the Arts - Altered Paintbrush

Hello creative gang, welcome back for another Art Anthology DT post. For today's project I created a "grungy rainbow" altered paintbrush. I used Art Anthology's Velvet dimensional paints and the Metal Effects - copper and gold. Love that these are very thick and dimensional, you can literally hold an open bottle upside down and nothing will come out...a little goes a very long way. When lightly applied they are somewhat transparent, which easily allows you to slowly build and control the amount of color needed, especially when using a variety of colors on a small project, like I did here.

I love learning new products as it is always a fun way for me to expand my mind and hopefully find new ways to be creative. For a tutorial, check out the YouTube video posted below and be sure to stop by Art Anthology's blog for more ideas and inspiration from the DT.

Live Life Tag Board

Hi everyone, here with a DT project for the Art Anthology Blog. For this project I used some of the Art Anthology dimensional paints... Metal Effects, Velvet's and Sorbet. These paints are quite different than most paints I've used, they are translucent yet dimensional, so the heavier the application, the more dimensional and opaque they become. The Velvet's have a beautiful matt smooth finish, the Sorbet's have high gloss and a tinge of glitter, I used the combination of both for the leaves.

As for the Metal Effects, I love using them over black gesso by applying the copper first and highlighting with the gold, which makes the copper look more like a rusty background...love this technique, will definitely be using it on another project. On this project I also used it on the face mold to give it an aged, distressed look, hard to see the end result in the video, but you can see it in the close up photo.

Hope you're feeling inspired, be sure to stop by the Art Anthology Blog for more inspiration!

Enjoy

Keep Life Simple... Art Journal

Hi everyone, happy to be back with another DT project for Mixed Media Warriors, as always drawing inspiration from this month's mood board posted below. One thing I found myself really enjoying when it comes to creating an art journal page is using inspirational quotes. Positive quotes are great way in opening our minds to self reflect in everyday life... be it ourselves, family and/or friends. As for the theme, there's always something so peaceful, quiet and soothing about the ocean and what lives within it.

I love to mix and match all kinds of mediums, as it's a great way to see what works best together. Below I used a combination of Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Ink Oxides (love) with the addition to Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals (love) and gesso. Using my heat gun I was able to make the gesso somewhat bubble giving it some awesome background texture. The ink oxides have a beautiful soft chalk texture look without the chalkiness feel and the magicals have certain rough, yet awesome texture when it's not fully diluted, which I found to be a perfect combination, as you'll see posted below.

As for the tag pocket, it's a great way to store a special memory...a trip to the aquarium, the beach or a boat ride out to sea.

Enjoy...

TH Distress Ink Oxides...cracked pistachio, iced spruce, broken china and faded jeans.
TH "Small Talk" stickers and Untiy Stamp...Quieter You Become.

LSG magicals...ocean breeze, raspberry lemonade and plumeria pink.
For the foliage TH Distress Ink vintage photo and Ink Oxide fossilized amber.

Mini Art Book

Hi everyone, here today with my first designer post for Mixed Media Warriors challenge, my project is inspired by this month's "Spring" mood board. I created a mini chipboard book that I plan to use for small little works of art. I found this book at Michaels that came with metal rings for the binding, I decided to switch it out with a ball chain instead, it can easily hook and unhook when I need to pull out a page.

Looking forward to playing with it!

Please visit Mixed Media Warriors for more inspiration and hope you feel inspired to join us!

Life is a gift...Celebrate

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a great start of the new year. It's been many years since I've created a layout, so what better way to start off my year than to create a "mixed media" layout. I love to follow many challenge blogs, as they can give so much inspiration and many creative ideas on what one can do to start off the next project. I have always worked best when challenged, be it home life, work life or just creating in general, for me challenges are a great way to expand my creativity in many diverse ways.

I absolutely love the freshness of a new snowfall, the scenery is always so beautiful. While going for a nice walk around the neighborhood, I couldn't help but stop to take this lovely photo of my husband and our most adorable pup "Dallas". What better way to celebrate...than to celebrate life with those we love and the wondrous beauty of Mother Nature.

Enjoy...

Snowflake Tag/Ornament and Giveaway

Hello everyone, time for a project share and a double giveaway. I had mentioned that I wanted to do a giveaway before Christmas, cutting it close but here we are! :)  In the meantime, I am happy to say I have since reached just over 1000 subscribers on YouTube, so what better way to celebrate than to do a double giveaway. To enter the giveaway, all you will need is to be a subscriber of my YouTube channel, like and comment...the winners will be chosen at random and announced sometime in late January, good luck!!!

Meanwhile, I've been mad crazy trying to get so much done before heading out to visit my oldest son, who is so hosting his first Christmas Dinner, so happy and excited to say the least...the fact the I had time to make this post was a miracle, lol. With that said, he wants to start a little tradition, for every year he hosts a Christmas dinner, he wants me to make him a new ornament for his tree. Such a wonderful idea.

Well I thought it would be nice to add a bit of a twist. I wanted to make it more personal by creating the ornament as a chipboard tag first and attaching it to his gift with our sentiment on the back, which in turn he can use the tag as the ornament for his tree. The chipboard "mdf" is from a small circle mini album that I haven't used in forever... it's light, yet sturdy enough to last through time.

Enjoy...
