Everyone has a story...

Hello beautiful peeps, so happy to be back to share my latest project. After a much needed break, if feels great to be creating again. Art is a great way to express ourselves, even if it's in the simplest of ways. Life isn't always as it seems and we all have our reasons for doing what we do. It's important to remind ourselves that everyone has their own story to tell...hence the inspiration behind this piece.

We may not always understand or agree with why certain things happen the way they do, but for me it's always important to try and read between the lines. Now, it doesn't mean I will always get it right, but regardless, it usually helps me put things into perspective, as I too have my own story to tell.

In time, I have accumulated many, many things that have yet to be put to use, including much of Tim Holtz's product line...some old, some new and some on the way...YIKES!!! In creating this project, that became my main focus, so I used the TH Etcetera thickboard, some background stamps, metal embellishments and distress inks and oxides, along with many other elements as well. All and all, happy with how it turned out!!!

Enjoy...

Have a wonderful day!!!

C'est Magnifique! ~ Victorian Decor

Hello creative friends, I'm happy to share my next DT project for Mixed Media Warriors ~ August Mood Board, this month's challenge is Vintage/Old School using pastels. Mood Board is posted below. I went with a Vintage/Shabby Chic - Victorian style design. This project originally started out as a card, but I later decided to add it to a 5x7 wooden plaque that will sit on a small easel.

These papers are from Graphic 45 "Gilded Lily" collection, I've had it for quite some time, it was nice to finally put them to use. I added many flowers and lace, the chipboard saying is gold embossed, I added a button with some twine, some gold  micro beads, pink fragments, baby blue glass beads, gold wax and lots of layering.

For more inspiration and to join the challenge, please stop by the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog.

Quick side note: If you haven't noticed, I tend to change from different styles and techniques when creating, for me it keeps it fun, interesting and challenging...it's a great way to keep my creative juices flowing as I get bored very easily.

Enjoy...

Have a fun and creative day!!!

By The Sea - Lighthouse Frame

Hello creative friends, happy to share another DT project for Art Anthology. For today's project I made a mixed media, somewhat altered lighthouse frame. I decided not to add a photo yet (needing one that's just right), instead I removed the glass piece and replaced it with pattern paper and a wooden sentiment, I saved the glass piece for when I add the photo later.

I used a combination of Art Anthology Colorations color sprays, Velvet and Sorbet dimensional mediums and some Stone Effects. Please visit the Art Anthology blog for more creative and inspirational ideas...there you will also find links to Pinterest and YouTube. Also, you can join us on Facebook "Art Anthology Adventures In Art", where you can share your ideas and beautiful works of art. Hope to see you there!

Below you will find a step by step tutorial, along with a list of supplies.

Enjoy...

Fall Home Decor - Turquoise Pumpkin

Hello everyone... so happy to be back after a long over due break. Between vacations and being under the weather (still in the midst of recouping), it feels great to return to my studio, sit and have some fun. In the process of working on some fun Christmas projects, including some giveaways, so stay tuned.

With that said, the Fall season is still here and for today's project, I decided to create some "Fall" home décor. I was challenged to create my very first mood board and to share my creative process and ability to design around it...such a great and fun idea. As I enjoy this beautiful fall weather, I created a mood board based around it.

Living in Pennsylvania, I get to enjoy all the different climate changes for each season, Fall being one my favorite's. Love the crisp cool sweater weather, the smell of fresh baked pies and gorgeous scenery of the mountains. Typically I don't use turquoise in my fall décor, "not sure why" as it's a beautiful contrast and I use it in my den, with that in mind and using the mood board, I created a turquoise pumpkin.

Still incorporating the typical Fall elements, like pumpkins, rustic/distressed woods and orange candles, I thought, why not incorporate some "beach like" elements on the pumpkin that could work for some who live near the coastal beaches and/or warmer climate areas.

I used the various colors of turquoise and teal to create the distressed look of the pumpkin...I created "treasures" of  turquoise and amber crystals, gold and copper sparkly glitter, various colors of micro beads with some teal mica flakes, a"coral like" Fall leaf and the "seaweed like" leafy sprays that can easily be found near any beach.

Enjoy...

Spring Has Sprung... Floral Topiary

Hello my creative friends, welcome back for another DT project for Cardz TV. For today's 3D challenge I had to make a home décor project for Spring, so I decided to make a floral topiary. The "Spring has sprung" sentiment is from Cardz TV Stamps "Think Spring" set. This topiary fits right in with the décor in my studio, especially with yellow being my favorite color.

This file is from SVG Cuts "Thank You For the Music" svg kit, and as always, she does tutorials on how to assemble her cuts. I used Heartfelt Creations "Sunny Day" and "Classic Sunflower" collections for the vase and butterflies and yellow cardstock for the flowers.

Be sure to stop by Cardz TV for more inspiration from Mary and our DT , also be sure to enter in this weeks challenge for a chance to win  a set of Cardz TV Stamps

Looking forward to the Spring!!!

Mixed Media Art Prompt Box 2

Hi everyone, in a previous post I shared with you my first Art Prompt Box. Well today I want to share with you my 2nd Art Prompt Box. This box is quite different from the first one, which is what I wanted. I was in the mood for something that was airy and light with a touch of vintage shabby chic.

I had lots of fun creating this and now I'm ready to start challenging myself to create some projects  using the prompts. As I get new products, I need to remember to add them to my list. Hope you've been inspired and are having fun creating your own prompt boxes... supplies listed below! :)

Enjoy...

Supplies used...
Wooden box and misc. metals, chipboard and old paintbrushes etc.
Gesso, Modeling paste for stencils and Crackle paste for the drawer.
Prima Shabby Chic door locks.

Mixed Media Art Prompt Box

Hi everyone, so happy to be back after a well needed break, I'm totally rested and so ready to get back to creating! For my first project of the year, I decided to start off with an Art Prompt Box. I found this idea on YouTube from Rach0113, click here for her video.

This is the first of 2 boxes. I'm making a list of ALL of my supplies/tools/styles/etc. that are in my studio, I will then print and cut them out. I will add all of my supplies etc. to the first box, when I'm ready to create, I will pull out 3 and create a project. When I'm done I will put it into the 2nd box, the idea is to go through your 1st box. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say there are many things that were bought throughout time that haven't been opened.

I plan to do another video, once my 2nd box is complete. I will then show you the process and start by pulling out 3 things that I will have to use to create. There's not limit on what you use, but you must use those 3. Other than my DT posts for Cardz TV, all of my other projects will be based from the prompt box.

I love this idea and I hope you all get inspired to Create Amazing Art!!!

Enjoy...

I did make a video showing the process, unfortunately it cut out before I could finish...I'm hoping you will get the idea.

 Have a great day!!!

Sweet Harvest Mason Jar

Hi there, welcome back for another DT project for Timeless Twine. Here is a cute mason jar that's perfect for the "harvest" time of year. I used the "Autumn Splendor" twine around the lid, pretty papers from Simple Stories "Pumpkin Spice" paper pack and enamel dots.

The svg file can be found in the Silhouette store, design# 65656. The lid is meant for fabric, but I decided to use paper instead...you will have to wet the paper until it becomes soft, so it can easily bend around the lid top, gently tie it, then let it dry. Fabric is much easier, but I really wanted to use the pattern from the paper.

Enjoy...

I put a tea light inside, but it can be filled with anything... something scented like pot pourri or something sweet to eat, like cookies!

Fall Home Decor - Acorn with Stand

Hi everyone, happy to be back with another "3d" dt project for Cardz TV. I found this awesome acorn svg file in the Silhouette store -  design# 68832, the stand I put it on I made myself from an empty ribbon spool. I used the Cardz TV stamp set "Thankful for You" and heat embossed the sentiment with Stampendous "Clear Bark" embossing powder around each edge of the acorn.

God knows I am very thankful for many things in my life, especially for my wonderful boys and husband, so the sentiment "So Thankful" was perfect. I love Fall for many reasons, it's so fresh, cozy and colorful! This acorn was just what I needed, you can take the lid off and I put a scented sachet in it, which is what I did with some "Pumpkin Spice" that I bought from AC Moore. I also tied some "Solid Orange" Timeless Twine around the stem.

The base is an empty ribbon spool...I colored it brown, I covered it with brown pattern paper, added some mica flakes and embossing powder from Stampendous, I used tissue paper to fill in between the top and bottom of the spool. I then glued some burlap ribbon around the edge for sturdiness, heat embossed it and glued the brown trim on top of that. It's a perfect fit for the acorn, which I then glued into the hole on top of the spool.

Enjoy...

Halloween Pumpkin with Witch Hat

Hi everyone, hope you all had an amazing summer. Now that summer is almost over, it's time to start enjoying this beautiful fall weather that's approaching. For my DT project for Timeless Twine I made a Jack O' Lantern with a witches hat, it can be used to carry treats or for some home décor, I'm using it as home décor.

You can find this file at SVG Cuts, it's from the Haunted Forest kit. I had so much fun putting this together, I used the "Orange Licorice" Timeless Twine, some lace, rhinestones, black glitter and a glittery spider. I love how pretty and spooky it turned out.

Enjoy...

Altered Shabby Chic Serving Tray Swap

Hi everyone, I'm back with another altered project, this time it's a metal serving tray. I made this for another swap for the FB group Chic Craftique, I was partnered up with the wonderful Diann. This is my first altered tray, so I'm excited to share. The tray had to be at least 12" by 8.5", have a floral cluster and contain laces/trims around the border.

Diann wanted something that would fit in with the décor in one of her rooms that was painted turquoise and beige, and with shells. So I did my best to create a shabby chic tray with some sea creatures and a wooden sentiment made by Kaisercraft, which was kept simple other than adding some clear pearlescent embossing powder from LSG "Magic Moon Pearls", to give it some shimmer.

I also added some Lumiere paint by Jacquard "Super Sparkle" around the embossed edges of the tray for more shimmer. The large star fish and 2 shells I made out of resin molds and the tiny star fish is from Prima. Most of the flowers are from Petaloo and Prima and all of the other embellishments are from the local craft stores. Hope she likes it and it matches with the décor.

Enjoy...

Lighted Gazebo Party Decor

Hi everyone, with Summer right around the corner, it's about that time for pool or beach parties. So as my Timeless Twine project, I decided to make some party décor. I found this Gazebo file in the Silhouette store - design #79278, I chose colors that would fit perfectly with a summer theme, be it a pool or beach party, or whatever fun party your having.

I used some "Firecracker" twine and a "white doily" from Bella Creationz. I also added some blue brads and small white flowers. I haven't gone to a summer party yet that hasn't continued into the evening, which is why I thought it would be cute to add the little LED candle.

"Gone Fishin" Box of Shells

Hello there, hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. For todays DT project at Cardz TV Gallery, I made a boat box and I used Cardz TV Stamps "Fun in the Sun" for the cute sentiments. I bought the boat box svg file from SVG Cuts kit "Picnic in the Park" and the fence from the "Seaside" svg kit.

Most kids when they go to the beach, love to collect seashells, so this will be for a little boys room, so he can put his seashells inside.

I did use some Prima seashells, which I painted, and the bigger seashells from K&Company. I used several TH distress embossing powders to create the sand, I added a nautical metal compass and a variety of rope and twine to complete my project. The nautical papers are from Authentique.

Enjoy...

Garden in the Basket

Hi guys, hope you are all having a great week. For todays project I made a fun little garden in a wooden basket. The basket is meant to hang on a door, but you can pretty much hang it anywhere.  I got the idea to do this basket from a challenge on the FB group Chic Craftique. Now I am sponsoring the challenge, so obviously I can't join, but I still had fun doing my own take on it.

Aside from the lovely wonderful flowers, I used Craft Embellishments for the bird and the iron piece on the front. I also added a couple of flower buttons, a resin cameo piece and a resin fence to complete the look. Hope this inspires you to do a basket of your own, for yourself or to give as a gift.

Enjoy...

This was a wooden basket that I painted white, I covered it with Graphic 45's "Artisan" papers and heat embossed around all of the edges with Stampendous Encrusted Jewels.

Memorial Day BBQ - Tabletop Decor

Hi everyone, it's time to share a fun project that I made for my Memorial Day weekend BBQ. Today is "Move it Monday" on the Timeless Twine blog, so I had to make a project that moves. Well that challenge helped inspire my idea for creating some spinning pinwheels.

Memorial Day weekend is perfect for cookouts and as always that's what we do here at home. I love decorating as much as I love creating, so when the holidays come around, I have so much fun putting it all together.

I used the Key Lime Sorbet twine and the Happy stamp set from Bella Creationz. The pinwheels are from Cricut, the bottles I bought at Hobby Lobby and the sticks are from an old scent diffuser that had dried out.

I needed something to keep the sticks in place, so for the inside I bought "Tropical Infusion" scented Sachets that I bought at AC Moore for a buck a piece. I can't even begin to explain how amazing it smells. I opened the one for the purpose of sharing this project, but I will save the others until they're ready to go out on the tables.

I'm sure before the end of the night, the kids will have their fun playing with the pinwheels! :)

Enjoy...

You can cut 4 pinwheels out of a 12 x12 double
sided paper. Use 3 in each jar, I made a total of 8 jars,
so I needed 6 sheets of patterned paper.
